Did you know that breast cancer can be detected early with a simple mammography?

 

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), breast cancer is one of the most frequent types of cancer worldwide and, also, the leading cause of death from malignant tumors among women. In 2020, the new cases of this disease in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean (210 thousand) accounted for almost a quarter of the total global.

INPAVI Cancun, Hospital Galenia and Rotary Club Cancun joined forces to carry out a health campaign focused on the prevention of breast cancer. During the month of November, 21 women were able to perform a mammography of way free thanks to this valuable collaboration.

This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the institutions involved with the health of women cancunenses and the positive impact they can generate by working together.

In INPAVI we cater to low-income families, and this campaign was extremely valuable to be able to offer medical care to women in situation of social vulnerability as part of our mission which is to help in a way integral to the society.
